Monday March 23rd, Week 13 of 2020... This is a day / week / month / YEAR like most of us alive have NEVER seen in our lifetimes. Global Pandemic / National Emergency / State orders to stay home - Holy Smokes this is enough to make sane people nuts! So what are the next steps and how DO we get through this?!
All of us knows someone affected by this Coronavirus / COVID-19 virus in some way if not someone yet who has tested positive. Working from home, working new or different hours, not working at all, those in healthcare and civil service who MUST work more and no matter what and the list goes on. Each and every one of us is affected in some way and or 'normal' has been rocked to its core. Will we have enough: Food, money, toilet paper, and other essentials until all of these imposed restrictions are lifted?
Surely a stressful time for almost everyone right? While taking this guy above on another long walk in middle-of-nowhere Indiana this morning, the need to write a blog-post hit me. During this CRAZY time we ALL need each other now more than ever to lean on and maintain some level of sanity. We will all likely be doing different things on a daily basis OR be exposed to things that we never were before, and those closest to us will be needed to keep us sane.
Peace Like a River...
OK if you have read this far, you are thinking - OK now I am gonna preach... Wrong! I am just simply going to share that in the midst of all of this craziness, that thought hit me - "Peace Like a River". Sure I am concerned about this thing and how it will affect us, loved ones and those most at risk, there is no way I am not. But what I am NOT:
- Going crazy watching news all day
- getting myself worked up into a frenzy
- Taking to Social Media and second-guessing those in power
- Sharing every thing I see and thinking it is truth
- Making my opinion more important than those in places of power
- Thinking I know at all how any of you feel during this thing...
IF you know someone who is totally at peace with all of this and you are not, speak with them and get to know how and why. This is a time when those who can help MUST help those who need help or have questions - IF and only IF we all do this, we will emerge stronger as a result.
I am an eternal optimist for sure, and I want nothing more than to see us ALL come out of this stronger, closer and more at peace with the things we cannot control then ever before. IF we get there, we win.
